There is definitely something to be said for a little imagination, ingenuity and sense of humor mixed together. Such a combination usually produces some entertaining art. case in point, this instillation piece by French/Swiss artist Guillaume Reymond.

We opened our mailbox yesterday and saw an alarmingly beautiful image we did not expect to grace the cover of Juxtapoz. It was by Wangechi Mutu, a Kenyan-born artist who know lives in Brooklyn and is pretty much one of the most fantastic artists in the world today. Then we got to the feature with Jane Alexander, whose work is seen above and on the newsstand cover, and we bascially were quite impressed with what Jux came up with.
Its a big issue too, probably the biggest they have had. And there is a very academic, ball-busting essay by curator and philosopher Simon Njami to kick off the issue, which puts Art Forum on notice.
In all, this is the best Jux of the year. It different, the art is expansive, the profiles have bugged out artists, the features are plenty, and the shots from Estevan and Dragonette are top notch.

Straight from the brilliant mind of toy designer Frank Kozik come two stunning new statuettes. The “Ludwig Van” bust is a collaboration with LUDWIG, which recreates the upstart label’s Alex DeLarge-inspired take on the classical composer in neon blue and green vinyl, while the “Ho Chi Minh” depicts the communist leader dressed as a soldier, in a bright purple finish. Always one for causing a stir, Banksy has been doing just that while visiting New York City. After completing two large building-sized murals, the renowned graffiti artist has now created a storefront that is, in actuality, a fully-interactive art exhibition. “The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill“, located at 89 7th Avenue between W 4th and Bleeker, shows off Banksy’s penchant for the bizarre. With creepy animatronic animals and oddities at every turn, this is definitely a unique, must-see exhibit that will both disturb and amaze you. If you live or are visiting New York, make sure to take a look before the shop closes for good on October 31st
